New Year

Has it really been since June since I posted? Wow! Is anybody still checking on me? LOL! It has been a tough year and I must say that Facebook has become my new love. :) A lot of the reasons why I wanted a blog are now satisfied through FB. I love my blog and I do miss visiting my bloggy friends. There is just not enough time in a day! But, the main reason for my blog is to share homeschool ideas, resources and to keep a record of our "doings", so I must report our curriculum choices this year.

10th Grade

Teaching Textbook Geometry
Notgrass American History (which includes 3 credits for Lit, Bible, History)
Vocabulary from Classical Roots
Apologia Chemistry (co-op)
Spanish (co-op)
Writing (co-op)

The child is begging me to get his worker's permit and to get a job. I figure it would be great and he would be saving money to take some extra classes at the community college, I am just reluctant to put him in a bad environment.

6th Grade

Teaching Textbooks 6
Rod & Staff English
Beautiful Feet American History (intermediate)
ABeka Spelling
Cursive copywork/dictation
Beautiful Feet Geography (home and co-op)
Writing (co-op)
Indiana History (co-op)
Apologia Zoology 1

3rd Grade

MUS
Rod & Staff English
Abeka Spelling
A Reason for Handwriting Cursive
Beautiful Feet American History (primary)
Apologia Zoology 1
Indiana History (co-op)
Beautiful Feet Geography

Lots of literature is included in their history, but I also made a list for extra reading.

This is the first year that my 2 younger kids have separate history. We will use the Zoology together though. I can't imagine having more kids! This will be a full day of school! Another change is that we will be at c0-op every Friday this year. The regular group will still meet just 2 Fridays a month, but the high schoolers are doing the credit classes and they need to meet every Friday. It will be a long day when the group meets and we also have the afternoon classes, but it is so worth it to have him sit under a Spanish teacher and to have someone else teach Chemistry!

You've been gone forever! I'm glad you checked in. Sounds like a great plan for the school year.

hi there! I found your through a 'google' search as I was attempting to find something about using Beautiful Feet History in a co-op setting.

I read here that you are using the geography in co-op! Can I bother you to ask How do you and your group work that out? How do you split the activites / reading between home and co-op?

Thanks, & I look forward to revisiting your blog :O)

thanks for visiting my blog! and yes, it would be great to check out the lesson plans you've prepared for the BF geography co-op. It wouldn't be until next year that we may use it, but I like to do my best to *think* ahead :O)

I am teaching botany to our elemtary co-op children. We are using Exploring Creation through Botany, by Apologia. Not sure if you guys have done this one, but if you haven't you are welcome to the lesson plans I've put together for at-home study/ co-op meetings.

thanks a bunch!
Blessings, Deanna
