I don't know about you, but this is the first time in my 6 years of homeschooling where I do not have my curriculum and school year planned out yet. I usually do my research and make my final decisions after attending my local homeschool convention. This is not the case this year. My husband was unemployed for several months of the year and I didn't have the money to go. So, I am definitely on the lookout for frugal, free, used curriculum for this next year. I am already a nervous wreck starting highschool, let alone feeling very unprepared now. I know that homeschooling can be very cheap, but I love the curriculum that plans it all out for you and holds your hand. Of course, that is the most expensive curriculum! I have thought and thought about using Ambleside Online (we already use the book lists), but I know that my 1o year old would hate it. I also feel that my high schooler will need more (maybe I am wrong), and it would take a lot of prep work from me. I think it is just the fear of not knowing how to use it correctly. I have been drooling over Sonlight, but that is most definitely out of my price range! My kids are not close enough in age where we good benefit by using one core for more than one kid.
In my search, I have found great resources. I will add more as I find them. Mainly for myself to keep track of.

4 words of encouragement:
I know what you mean! Great list of resources! Happy Mother's Day!
WOW! You've just helped me do my homework for the summer too. I plan on using all online studies for my boys too. I have a list, but haven't made it "public" yet. I will be checking out the links you have found.
You can do it!! There are is so many good educational resources online to use for free!
I have done the majority of my seven years of homeschooling not using any "pre-pkg" curriculum.(I have been blessed with curriculum books that I use as a supplement). I have used the library and internet resources. I find that doing unit studies for history and science work the best. I go to the library and get books on a topic and look up info. on the internet and put together a unit that way. It takes extra work on my part in putting it together but the kids love it. Just to give you an example, for 4th or 5th grade I do a US States study...we learn the states in alphabetical order and make up a state notebook with the states having 1-3 pages in the notebook. When we do all 50 states we are done...it takes about 6 weeks to get thru all the states doing 2 each week. I know some that will take all year doing the states study! It all depends on how much info you want them to know.
Also if you are wanting actual curriculum I am sure that there are several places online that you could get used curriculum at reasonable prices.
I also wanted to recommend that you check out this google group, "Homeschooling on a Budget". You have to apply for free membership to the group but there is tons of resources there for K thru high school! When you apply tell the owner, Sonshine sent you! :)
HTH with your endeavors!
I've been wondering how much homeschool curriculum an individual could find for free.
One thing that has helped me is paperbackswap. It is easy to get classics and even some curriculum for the price of shipping.
